Welcome to the Boyle Community Profile

Welcome to Boyle

On behalf of the Council and residents of the Village of Boyle, I welcome you to experience the "Boyle Advantage".

The Village of Boyle is located on Highway 63, ninety minutes northeast of Edmonton, and is in an area where forestry, agriculture and natural resources are growing at an alarming rate. Situated within the Village is the Millar Western Forest Products Ltd. Planer and Saw Mill which produces 50 million board feet of lumber per year. Located 30 minutes northwest of Boyle is the Alberta Pacific Forest Industries Pulp Mill, the largest single-line kraft pulp mill in North America.

The Village of Boyle is proud of the progress within the Village as Boyle offers many amenities not normally found in a municipality of this size. With the recent completion of our school modernization and expansion, coupled with a new youth and fitness centre, we invite families looking for a place to plant some roots, to "come grow with us" and check out the affordable alternative in a community which still focuses on the "family unit".

Our Arena (Millview Recreation Complex) was recently upgraded and now boasts a beautiful mezzanine and viewing area where people can sit comfortably and watch the activities on the ice surface. Boyle has a strong commitment to its youth and this is shown by the busy schedules kept by Boyle Minor Hockey. We also have an active "oldtimers" hockey team and other recreational hockey opportunities.

The Boyle Curling Club is very proud of its 3 sheet facility which is connected by way of a pedway to our Arena. A full kitchen facility is found on the main level, and the mezzanine and viewing area has an area for snacks and refreshments. The Curling Club hosts a Men's Bonspiel, Ladies Bonspiel and a Mixed Bonspiel every year and is kept busy with league play in between.

Summer recreation within the Village includes ball diamonds, skateboard park, and tennis courts. For outdoor enthusiats one doesn't have to travel far to enjoy all that our area has to offer. Swimming, boating, water skiing, trail riding, bike and hiking paths and camping facilities are available at Long Lake Provincial Park, Hope Lake, Skeleton Lake and North Buck Lake, all just a short drive from town. Flat lake, located just a few miles west of the Village, offers some of the best bird watching in Alberta. If golf is your game, you can enjoy a round at Skeleton Lake Golf Course, or at Long Lake Golf Course each of which are just a few minutes drive from town.

Winter offers opportunites for ice fishing, cross country and downhill skiing and snowmobile rallies within the immediate area, and with our Arena and Curling Rink always busy one never has to travel far to find activities.
